Transforming Parking and Mobility for a Thriving Community
The densely populated Isla Vista community, located near the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), faced significant parking congestion and mobility challenges. High vehicle density, limited parking infrastructure, and inconsistent enforcement highlighted the need for a comprehensive solution. The Isla Vista Community Services District (IVCSD) selected DIXON to lead its first-ever Parking Study, later expanding the scope to include a Mobility Study.
The Parking Study provided a detailed analysis of parking occupancy trends, enforcement gaps, and stakeholder input, resulting in a practical Parking Action Plan designed to reduce congestion and enhance accessibility. Simultaneously, the Mobility Study addressed broader transportation concerns, focusing on alternative transportation options and connectivity improvements.
DIXON’s integrated approach is helping Isla Vista address its unique challenges and establish a sustainable framework for parking and mobility improvements.
